Friends, today I got a chance to road test a wireless saxophone microphone from ACEMIC. If you play your alto, tenor, or baritone saxophone in a combo with amplified instruments and live drums you generally need to use a microphone plugged into a sound system to be heard, right?. A wireless saxophone mic grants you the freedom to be heard without having stand glued to a stage mic. A wireless sax mic is also ideal for solo artists who play using backing tracks. The ACEMIC saxophone mic and receiver I tested today is simple enough for a sax geek like me with no tech skills to set up and operate, and the gear delivered as promised. No, I’m not the guy to talk to about equipment specs. Rather, I’m coming at this review from the standpoint of a working sax player. Is ACEMIC the best wireless mic for saxophone for your money? I’m not qualified to answer. But I will say that throughout my home studio test the gear left me feeling confident enough to take it to a live gig and try it out.

Will a wireless sax mic help you play better saxophone? Yes and no. Nothing beats time playing in the woodshed or playing live with other musicians, but having fun gear that makes you actually want to play more is valuable beyond words.
