BULK TO CUT RATIO: Best Bulking and Cutting Phase Length

The bulk to cut ratio is a measure of how long you spend bulking compared to cutting across the year. In a bulk, you aim to maximize muscle growth while minimizing unnecessary fat gain (ie. lean bulking) in a calorie surplus. In a fat loss phase, you want to maximizing fat loss while maintaining or building muscle - you’ll be in a calorie deficit.
Note that for those who are able to build muscle and lose fat at the same time (body recomposition), you’ll still be able to do this in a calorie deficit. So there is overlap between the “maingaining” strategy and bulking and cutting.
