I thought my experience on Crystal was the unluckiest I'd be for a while, but no. I DIED PAST 60% 91 TIMES AND 57-59% 76 TIMES. I started playing the level because I learnt it really quickly. I got to 73% in 2 days so I thought it would be quick and easy. BUT NO. On the surface, the level seems fine. It's very 144hz friendly. HOWEVER, the last 20% contained so many awkward timings. 80%, 81%, 82%, 84%, 88%, 93%, I died to all of them. Also, when I played the level from 0, the music becomes desynced at 77%. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY. You can even tell from the video, the music is coming too early. It's fine when I practice with start pos from 55% onwards. That caused me to die sometimes. The blue orbs in the 57-59% ufo are also super inconsistent, and my FRAMES DROPPED at the beginning of the 56% ufo sometimes as well, further causing me to die. I wish I could make a ULDM of this level but apparently it's not allowed since the LDM already removes way too many foreground effects. I had to play on medium graphics and record in a lower quality to adapt. Luckily I found that I could skip some orbs at 58-59% so I rarely died to 59% past that. So that's why I died so much in those places.
Now about the gameplay overall, I'm not a fan of there being only 1 gamemode per part. This makes the experience either incredibly good or incredibly bad, depending on how good the player is at the gimmicks for each gamemode. For example, the wave at 8% was really bad for me, and the wave at 40% was really good for me. Having a more variety of gamemodes would ensure players wouldn't only have to focus on one skillset per part, which would make it feel less unbalanced to them. I only realized this flaw in the level after I became consistent at all the parts except 57-59% and 8-17%.
The level is really okayyyy overall. I think I'd have enjoyed it if I had average luck because the gameplay flows pretty well and is satisfying to play. It's very much a skill-based level, having no 3x or 4x speed parts. The level really tests players' consistency. I'd recommend this level if you like slower-paced levels and is good with wave and ufo.
