BACKGROUND
Earlier in May 2020, he miraculously survived the PK8303 airplane crash in Karachi in which all but one of the 98 other passengers died. His latest book inspired by this tragedy, Seat 1C: A Survivor’s Tale of Hope, Resilience and Renewal, is a poignant, heart-wrenching and ultimately uplifting story of reflection, survival and the enduring human spirit.

Holding multiple other roles such as the elected Chairman of the Pakistan Banks Association, Mr. Zafar Masud has also been President and CEO of The Bank of Punjab (BOP) since April 2020, the second largest public sector bank in Pakistan. He is spearheading a strategic transformational drive to steer BOP towards cutting-edge digitally motivated financial institutions to be positioned in the industry’s top-tier banks, focusing on empathy, compassion, and best-in-class corporate governance practices.

He is also a convener of one of the most extensive wholesale interest-free loan programs in Pakistan — an innovative poverty-alleviation and social-safety project – designed and managed the execution of the program end-to-end with the consent of IMF and the World Bank.
