Poet Bio: Siaara Freeman is a native Clevelander. She has more than 20 years of experience in creative writing with a specialty in spoken word. Siaara teaches at the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning, The West Side Community House Sisterhood project, and Anisfield-Wolf Foundation.
Siaara’s achievements in fellowship include: Cleveland Public Theatre Premier Playwright (2021), The Watering Hole Manuscript (2020), Winter Tangerine (2018) and a Poetry Foundation Incubator (2018). Siaara’s creative portfolio has been featured in The Offing, BOAAT Press, Tinderbox Poetry Journal, and Josephine Quarterly. Siaara has toured both nationally and internationally showcasing her unique ability to connect with diverse audiences. In addition, Siaara is the co-founder of The Outsiders Queer Midwest Writers Retreat. She is currently working on releasing her first book, Urbanshee.
