Title: Mink Creek Water Falls Hike Lake Superior North Shore, Ontario, Canada, S2025E02
Video recorded: June 9, 2025
Season 2025, episode 2: S2025E02
Hi, I’m Andy Fyon from Rambles with Robin and Ruby.. In this Rambles With Robin and Ruby video, we take a break from our search for Arctic – alpine disjunct plants, on a rainy day, to visit the Mink Creek water falls. The waterfall is located about 30 km or 18.5 miles west of downtown Marathon, Ontario, on the south side of Highway 17. Although we were not looking for Arctic – alpine disjunct plants, we did see a number of boreal forest plants growing in what is primarily a balsam fir – white spruce forest. I show some of those native plants at the end of the video.
It is June 9, 2025 and we took advantage of a rain day to visit the Mink Creek water falls. The water falls are located south of Highway 17. The trail to the falls is about 150 metres or 500 feet long from a parking area located on the north side of Highway 17. The parking area can be easily missed so when driving west from Marathon, pay attention when you see the Mink Creek roadside sign marking where Highway 17 crosses Mink Creek. The entrance to the parking area is about 1 km or 0.6 mile further west from where Highway 17 crosses Mink Creek. There are no roadside signs to mark the Mink Creek falls parking area or the trail to the falls.
This is a lovely waterfall, with an upper, middle and lower fall. It is suitable for young children. The parking are is not suitable for big rigs. Enjoy.
