Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad - Climbing to Cascade

Arguably the most popular and scenic train ride in the United States would be the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Operating on 45 miles of the former Denver & Rio Grande Western, the D&S has been transporting passengers up to Silverton since 1981. However, you have the choice to not go all the way to Silverton. The railroad offers tickets to the Cascade Canyon Express, running daily out of Silverton. While it doesn't do the full-length trip, it's still an amazing trip through the gorgeous scenery of the San Juan mountains. After arriving at Cascade, the train will turn around and be ready for its journey back to Durango. We had an amazing time out here capturing this amazing operation.
