We also head out for lunch at the trendy La Bestia, a modern spot known for its bold flavors and Italian fusion. With full stomachs, we begin our walking tour of Lucerne’s old town, stopping by two must-see historic landmarks:

🦁 The Lion Monument: This somber sculpture was created by Danish artist Bertel Thorvaldsen and carved in 1821 to honor the Swiss Guards who were massacred during the French Revolution in 1792. Mark Twain once described it as "the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world."

🌉 Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke): Dating back to 1333, this is Europe’s oldest surviving wooden covered bridge. It’s adorned with 17th-century paintings that depict important scenes from Lucerne’s history. The bridge and its iconic Water Tower are the city's most photographed landmarks.
