This is my very first video essay. In it, I thought I'd explore a topic that I have been aware of for awhile but that is less known my the general public and fans of Schulz: that in his early development as an artist, he was rejected by the Disney Studios twice. I go on to analyze the work and philosophies of both Walt Disney and Charles M. Schulz of "Peanuts". Let me know if you'd be interested in more content like this, or if I should just screw off and keep doing only cartoons!
I've watched this style of video for years, and I'm hoping that my iteration is unpretentious, informative, factually correct, and not trying too hard to be funny. I've been worries, but this was actually a blast to make!
The book I keep referencing in the video is "Only What's Necessary: Charles M. Schulz and the Art of Peanuts" by Chip Kidd.
Who do you prefer: Charlie Brown or Snoopy?
And shoutout to my friend Madi for submitting her Snoopy tattoo!
