A walk to Pouākai Tarns via Mangorei Track in 4K | Taranaki, New Zealand 2024

Hey guys, join me for a peaceful walk along the Mangorei Track right from the trailhead up to the famous Pouākai Tarns, which provide a gorgeous reflective view of Taranaki Mountain. The hike is about 6.2 km one way with an astonishing 777 m of elevation gain. So you will hear my heavy breath from time to time :). Our route goes through the Pouākai Hut located at 1200 m above the sea level. This is a great place for a rest or overnight stay, with 16 bunks available for hikers. The track features numerous stair sections, with lots of wooden steps, making it easier to climb through dense native bush. Relax, listen to the sounds of birdies, and enjoy a rewarding ascent with panoramic views at the top.
