GANDR is an upcoming dance project by FRIKAR. To find new inspiration and energy for the digitalized, pandemic human being we search for dance rituals in Scandinavian Stone Age and Bronze Age.
Group rituals and shape shifting are themes we wanted to learn as much as we could about. It was a dream come true when archaeologists Knut Helskog and Ellen Meijer brought us into a quite unknown history of dance eternalized by stones on rocks 2500-7000 years ago.
Choreographer Hallgrim Hansegård and dance artist Jon Filip Fahlstrøm is trying to convert the ideas and information into new dance arts which will meet new music by Terje Isungset (jaw harp, stones, wood, goat horns) and Torgeir Vassvik (Sami joik and throat singing.) Performances will be available at Fartein Valen-festivalen May 1st, FolkBaltica May 12th and Valdres July 21-23rd and 27th-30th.
Thanks so much to Alta Museum and Underlies hällristningsmuseum for great help and inspiration! Thanks to Kulturrådet, Sparebankstiftelsen DNB, Innlandet, Valdres and Fjelldansen choreographic centre for support and help!
