This is another one of those "Should I put this one up?" videos :)
This particular video covers the takeoff of the BA2264 service at the end of my recent trip beautiful Jamaica. At this time of year the take-off is at night.
As a result I was unable to cover the takeoff to my desired standard, and the video struggles a bit in terms of definition and at times focus. I can't blame this on the camera as I was using it in fully automatic mode. I would have needed a really fast lens ..£££££!.. or better still - knowledge of and experience with the camera's manual controls.
I've covered the takeoff from the dimming of the cabin lights towards the end of the taxi up until their switch on once the takeoff had completed. The cabin lights results in a huge amount of reflection in the windows - meaning it is impossible to see the outside scenery.
The video opens with the Captain's announcement. This is luck of the draw as this can occur at any point towards the end of boarding - I was lucky to catch most of it with the exception of the first few seconds.
This flight was flown by Aircraft G-VIIR which is Boeing 777 236 powered by General Electric GE90 engines. As mentioned by the Captain the incoming flight was almost 90 minutes late - however a quick turnaround by the Jamaican ground staff and a very short flying time meant that we arrived in London dead on time.
If you keep your eye on the white nav light on the leading edge of the wing you can just make out the turn inland at 07:10 in this video. For reference please refer to my previous daytime takeoff video at: • British Airways 777 - flight 2262 - full ...
Camera used was a Sony NEX-5T with 28mm lens and external microphone.
