The ability to honestly call oneself a bestselling author is like a badge of merit to authors, but not all bestseller lists -- or bragging rights -- are the same.

There are the big three traditional lists that require the sale of thousands of books a day to hit: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today. There are also retail lists compiled by Publishers Weekly, Barnes & Noble, and even Wal-Mart.
