Fly Fishing For Rainbow Trout | Winter Fishing

In this video of winter fly fishing I go and explore a fly fishing venue that stocks rainbow trout and brown trout throughout the winter period in South Africa.

Fly fishing has become a style of fishing that I have put some effort into to try and learn how to get more and quality trout on the bank. Every winter season in south africa I go out a couple time to get my far share of trout and gain some experience in catching trout.

As I am still new to fly fishing I struggle in the sport of fly fishing and catching trout. The different techniques in trout fishing are like a different language in my eyes. This doesn't stop me from going out there giving it my best shot to get those trout on the bank.

Ox Bow is the venue of choice for me. They just recently restocked the dams at this beautiful place situated in Bronkhorstspruit just out side of Johannesburg. Since fly fishing is very popular and many anglers go to Dullstroom for there fix of trout, some stay home and spent the time fishing waters close by. Ox Bow is a very popular fly fishing venue. There where a few people around the dams trying to catch trout. This makes it abit tricky to catch trout in and around the dams because all the goot spots have been taken.

In this video I caught three trout on streamer based flys. Two on a black wooly bugger and another trout on a olive and orange streamer. This technique is at the moment the only technique I can catch trout on so I try.
