देहरादून के पास है यह खूबसूरत गांव, यहां रोजगार का जरिया बन सकता है भीमल

रविवार 20 अप्रैल की सुबह हमने काटल गांव जाने का निर्णय लिया, जो देहरादून से लगभग 25 किमी. है। आपको देहरादून से यहां तक आने के लिए पहले थानो और फिर भोगपुर वाले रास्ते पर करीब आधा किमी. चलकर होमगार्ड प्रशिक्षण संस्थान के सामने से होते हुए ढाल पर सिंधवाल गांव के पुल से पहले ही आगे बढ़ना है। इस रास्ते से घाटी में विधालना नदी और उसके आसपास तलाई के खेत और मकान दिखते हैं।

हम आगे बढ़े, सिंधवाल गांव के पुल से पहले ही सीधा रुख कर लिया। सिंधवाल गांव का पुल पार करके आप सिंधवाल गांव, नाहींकला, ढाकसारी जा सकते हैं। पर, हमें काटल जाना था, इसलिए पुल पार नहीं किया।

रास्ते में बरसाती खाला मिला, जिसमें पानी कम था। वर्षों पुरानी सिंचाई नहर मिली, जो भोगपुर वाली नहर की तरह दिखती है। जानकारी मिली कि यहां एक घराट भी थी, जो अब नहीं है। हमने वर्षों पुराने झूलापुल भी देखे। झूलापुल के नीचे से होकर काटल की ओर बढ़ते रहे। झूला पुल देखकर यह तो साफ हो गया कि पहले यह बरसाती खाले बहुत विस्तार लेकर बहते होंगे। तभी तो पुल का स्पान इतना ज्यादा है। झूला पुल पर इस पार से उस पार जाने का मोह नहीं छोड़ पाए।

जंगल और बरसाती खाले के किनारे होते हुए आखिरकार वहां पहुंच गए, जहां से हमें काटल गांव के लिए पैदल चढ़ाई शुरू करनी थी। हालांकि सिंधवाल गांव के पुल के पास से आगे का रास्ता कच्चा ही है। जंगल के किनारे से होता हुआ नदी के पत्थरों और रेत कंक्रीट से भरा रास्ता। यहां संभलकर वाहन चलाने की आवश्यकता है, पर हमें तो मुश्किल से डेढ़ से दो किमी. ही चलना था।

Join us on a scenic morning journey to Katal Village, located approximately 25 km from Dehradun, on Sunday, April 20th. Our route took us through Thano and Bhogpur, passing the Homeguard Training Institute, and along a picturesque path before reaching the Sindhwal Village bridge. The trail offers stunning views of the Vidhalna River, lush Talai fields, and scattered houses in the valley.

Instead of crossing the Sindhwal Village bridge, which leads to Sindhwal, Nahinkala, and Dhakasari, we continued straight toward Katal. Along the way, we encountered a seasonal stream with low water flow, an ancient irrigation canal resembling the Bhogpur canal, and learned about a long-gone traditional watermill (gharat). The highlight was crossing an old suspension bridge (Jhula Pul), a testament to the once-mighty seasonal streams, with its wide span sparking curiosity and adventure.

Walking along the forest edge and the rocky, sandy riverbed, we finally reached the point where the uphill trek to Katal Village begins. The path from Sindhwal bridge is unpaved, winding through the jungle, and requires careful driving due to its rough terrain. For us, it was a short 1.5 to 2 km walk filled with natural beauty and historical charm. Come along for this offbeat adventure in the heart of Uttarakhand!
