We’re excited to present our tribute to a special piece of rail history – New Zealand’s last full-time staffed signal box.
This video takes an intimate look at the enduring technology inside Wellington’s A-Box, as well as the dedicated people who have operated it for many years.
Thanks to recent upgrade work at Wellington Station, A-Box has now closed its doors for good and train operations are managed remotely from the Wellington Rail Operations Centre, allowing more trains to move in and out of the station in coming years.
