A small slide show documenting barn rescue of a 1971 Datsun 240z that was sold new at Bankston Nissan out of Irving Texas, and it was serviced at the same dealership till it was parked in 1980, so you will see how well a Texas dry climate while sitting in a barn preserves a car.
The car had to be repainted due to a previous exterior color change to a darker gold, but all the engine bay, interior, wheel wells, and bottom paint is original and in awesome shape after a simple power wash and detail. It was in such preserved shape, along with being an extremely rare non undercoated car, that all the factory assembly line inspection paint marking were intact with no needs of touch up.
This car only had what was necessary done to it in order to keep it as original as possible, so the interior panels are original, dash is uncracked and original, original carpets, original door and hatch opening rubbers, Original engine accessories and aluminum coatings, but we did take apart everything to clean and reseal or service all mechanical, Hydraulics, Fuel, and Cooling system for a now fresh and dependable driver.
Some may say the Wheels and BRE Air Dam are not original, and they would be correct, but they are period correct and I have 1971 Bankston Nissan receipts for these items that needed to remain on the car for its Survivor status over a Restored status.
