This is a rare solo trip for me where I fly BORL up to Carlisle. Although not a particularly challenging route, the views are great. It starts with a right turn from Blackpool’s runway 28, head across Morecambe Bay at a safe glide altitude to the East of Barrow/Walney Island and then head North over the Lake District. There was a bit more cloud bubbling up from the hills than anticipated so I had to climb and turn to avoid it, but then a warm welcome awaited at Carlisle with their newly refurbished runway and brand new terminal building.
