Royal Coats of Arms feature on official buildings across the British Isles and the Commonwealth but you might never have given them a second look.
They're often carved in stone or made from cast iron and gold and are symbols of our history, and in particular our links with the British monarchy.
In St Peter Port, Guernsey, one very special royal crest that sits on the wall of the parliament building has been having a 'Repair Shop' style makeover - for the first time in up to 50 years.
Our reporter Hamish Auskerry has been speaking to Dave Dowding, one of the few people in Guernsey with the skills to do it justice.
