Chitrey is a small mountain village and is the place along the way to sanmdakphu where trekkers and tourists halt for a while. The road and trekking trail from manebhanjan up to chitre is considered one of the steepest in the entire stretch to sandakphu. chitre is located at an altitude of 8,340 feet and about 3km from manebhanjang. It takes about 1.5 hours of trek from manebhanjang and about 20 minutes by 4 wheei drive vehicle to reach chitre.
The main attraction in chitre is the Buddhist Monastery and the awasom view of the Kanchanjunga , Sunrise and Sunset snow peaks.
How to reach Chitre:
Manebhanjan to Chitre Distance is 3 kms.
From Siliguri the road distance to chitre is about78kms and will take about 4.0 hours / 4.5 hours .
The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri Station. The nearest airport is Bagdogra Airport . From NJP railway station at a distance of about 89 km is icche gaon . From Darjeeling at a distance of about 28 km, from Siliguri at a distance of about78 km, from Bagdogra Airport at a distance of about 86 km is chitrey .
