Hair loss after surgery has to do with the hair cycle. Anything that causes significant body imbalance can disturb the hair cycle. The hair loss will occur three months after the disturbance, will last for three months and can take 12 months to regrow.

When experiencing this type of diffuse hair loss, you should check your blood tests to ensure there are no other health or nutritional problems or lows. Telogen effluvium hair loss can be over 300 hair strands a day. This will reduce hair volume and expose other hair and scalp problems you were not aware of. You never go bald from telogen effluvium.
