Sometimes, forcing more detail can make a drawing look less realistic. There are so many other factors that should be taken into consideration. The fur type, textures, light source, quality of the reference photo and of course each artists goals but when aiming for a high level of realism, assuming it's all about lots of pencil details often means we are focusing on the wrong thing.
