Honolulu is the capital of Hawaii, in the island of Oahu, and is the largest and most populous city in the state. It is the westernmost major city and metropolitan of the United States and is the hub for business, finance, hospitality, and military defense in both the state and Oceania.

Honolulu means "sheltered harbor" or "calm port" in the Hawaiian native language. The city has become a favorite popular global destination for tourists for its favorable tropical climate, rich natural scenery, and extensive beaches. Incorporated as a city of the United States 1907, after the United States annexed the Hawaiian islands in 1898, Honolulu gained worldwide recognition following Japan's attack on nearby Pearl Harbor during WWII in 1941. The city's port became a desired location for growth and importance to the state and US military.

SALT At Our Kaka'Ako is and urban commercial and retail district, north of Ala Moana and Waikiki, and south of downtown Honolulu. The complex is part of a master redevelopment of repurposed buildings to create a urban-island marketplace that includes a variety of local retailers, boutiques, dining options, and an events venue.

The Iolani Palace is a royal residential palace and a National Historic Landmark located in capitol district of Honolulu. It is the royal residence of the rulers of the Kingdom of Hawaii from 1845 to 1893 during the Kamehameha Dynasty and the Kalakaua Dynasty. The palace was a replacement of the old residence that was at the time in poor condition, and it was built 1879 from brick and concrete.

Maunakea Marketplace is an open-air hub of shops and food stands located in the Chinatown District. The marketplace covers over 52,000 square feet of retail space with over 65 tenants with an open marketplace and a food court. It is considered the central hub for Honolulu's Chinatown with its distinctive entryways and architecture.

Honolulu's Chinatown is a historic district for its Chinese American community and is one of the oldest Chinatowns in the United States, which was first established in 1900. During the 1900's, laborers were imported from China to work on sugar plantations in Hawaii and many of them became merchants in the area. Today, Honolulu's Chinatown has become a tourist attraction and a major destination for locals especially the famous Maunakea Marketplace located on Maunakea Street and the Oahu Market located on King Street.

Aloha Tower Marketplace is an airy waterfront outdoor mall located within the Honolulu Harbor. Built in 1994, the area was built as a commercial revitalization project for the Harbor. The marketplace includes several national historic landmarks including the Aloha Tower, Falls of Clyde, and the Hawaii Maritime Center. As the centerpiece of the shopping center, the Aloha Tower is a retired lighthouse that is considered a historic landmark of the state of Hawaii. It has continued to be a guiding beacon to welcoming vessels to the Honolulu Harbor since it was first built in 1926.
