This choreography piece is like no other; it gives you best of both worlds - hip hop and belly dancing. This dance is to the famous song "Big Pimpin" by Jay Z. What many people don't know is that the beat you hear in the song actually comes from one of Egypt's own legendary singers - Abdel Halim Hafez. In this dance, I teach my dancers to challenge their creativity and body as they are belly dancing to a hip hop song. During this process, I have asked that my dancers channel their inner sexy and confidence, while having fun; to step outside of their comfort zone. The beauty of this number is seeing women come together that come different walks of life. This song represents inclusion between different backgrounds and cultures. Which is what my mission is as a belly dancing instructor and choreography - to change the narrative of belly dancing, creating a safe and non-judgmental space for all women - no matter your race, skin color, culture, background, size or experience - to belly dance, freely.
