The City of Lancaster & Public Safety: June 2025 First Friday Forum

On Friday, June 6, Hourglass hosted a forum with Mayor Danene Sorace, Chief Richard Mendez, and social workers Grace Mentzer and Kelly Haines to talk about public safety in Lancaster City. Following a high-level overview of the bureau's most recent shifts and accomplishments from Mayor Sorace, Chief Mendez discussed the recent process to the police bureau's accreditation award. Social workers Grace Mentzer and Kelly Haines talked about their work on the job and shared stories that illustrated the importance of the balance of their skillset with the bureau's police force.
