The Yokosuka Caves

Between 1938 and 1945, more than 260 caves in more than 20 separate tunnel and cave networks were built all over Yokosuka Naval Base. There are more than 16 miles (27 kilometers) of tunnels and caves scattered in a hodgepodge fashion around the base. Many more tunnels are scattered throughout the city of Yokosuka.
