TIPITIN
Music by María Grever
Arranged by Raul Dominguez
Tipitin is a Mexican waltz that depicts a new love that is coy yet playful. While the verses paint a lighthearted picture of love at its budding stages, the accompanying voices recreate the sound of guitars, setting a vibrant and cheerful atmosphere typical of Mexican waltzes.
A poem originally written by María Grever, Mexico’s first well-known
female composer, Tipitin did not gain popularity until Raymond Leveen wrote the English lyrics, and Horace Heidt and His Brigadiers released their version, also in 1938.
We hope you enjoy our rendition of Tipitin, a beautiful and simple love song which is evocative of the Mexican culture, with a melody that is familiar to many Filipinos.
