Keith Hale bought his 1974 Ducati 750ss "greenframe" because he liked the way it sounded. 50 years later this retired teacher faces tough times with a lack of pension and diminishing options ahead of him. However, he discovers that now, when he can no longer ride the bike he has loved over the years, the machine he took such good care of his entire life, will now take care of him for the rest of his life.
This exceptional story came to me from my friend Peter Boggia, a master mechanic in NYC who has always professed the value in knowing what you own, and its value in the world, and the benefit of being a custodian of objects so that they may take care of you equally. I love this story, and Keith is such a genuinely nice man that to hear a tale like this truly warms my heart. I hope you enjoy it as well.
