For over 13 months, residents of Mekongi neighborhood (popularly known as Sandpit) in Buea have lived in total darkness. Frustration reached a boiling point when denizens barricaded the main Buea boulevard, bringing traffic to a halt and triggering a tense standoff with security forces.
With businesses crippled, insecurity rising, and daily life disrupted, residents say they have exhausted all peaceful channels with no solution in sight. This protest is a desperate cry for electricity, dignity, and government accountability.
