The B.E.V. Consortium, formed by BTA International GmbH, EFACEC Engenharia e Sistemas S.A. and Vassallo Builders Ltd, jointly designed and built the Malta North Waste Treatment Facility (MNWTP).
The Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) plant was inaugurated in February 2016. In the video you will learn more about the intelligent plant concept, which supports Malta in achieving its highly challenging waste management targets.
The treatment of the organic fraction recovered from Municipal Solid Waste has been designed according to the BTA Process. BTA International - part of the Agraferm Technoligies Group - is the technological partner for the wet pre-treatment and the three biological steps: anaerobic wet digestion, aerobic treatment of the digestate as wet oxidation and the process water management, including a biological nitrification and denitrification of the effluent water.
