PROGRAM NOTES
Tap dance icon, choreographer, poet, musician, and drummer Brenda Bufalino closes the inaugural Uptown Rhythm Dance Festival. With stories and work spanning a lifetime, Bufalino builds a suite around Charles Mingus’s Meditation on Integration. See a new vignette of her original music Tango with Taps and Concertina with Bufalino on the concertina. Her cast of collaborators include Alice Baum (dancer/vocalist), Tamii Sakurai (dancer), and Dylan Szuch (dancer/violinist) with Ben Rosenblum (accordion/pianist) and Joe Fonda (bassist).

Uptown Rhythm Dance Festival, a multi-night performance and workshop program, presented in collaboration between uptown neighbors 92NY's Harkness Dance Center, Works & Process at Guggenheim New York, El Barrio's Artspace PS 109, and Museum of the City of New York.
