France in a MOTORHOME | Normandy Aires & Park Ups

We're on a motorhome tour of France and Spain and in this week's Europe motorhome adventure we're in Normandy. We visit the Normandy Beach Landings from D-Day on the 6th June 1944 as we approach the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.

In this episode we start in Utah Beach before moving on to Omaha Beach, Gold Beach, Juno Beach and finally Sword Beach before visiting Pegasus Bridge.

On the 80th Anniversary of D-Day there is an incredible silhouette installation at the British Normandy Memorial. It was installed by the charity Standing with Giants and has a total of 1,475 silhouettes which will be in place until the end of August this year in order to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings. The installation is called For Your Tomorrow and it is part of the Normandy 80 Campaign.

We take in Utah and Omaha beach where our American allies stormed the beaches on D Day and Juno Beach which the Canadian forces stormed and of course Gold and Sword Beach which the British Forces stormed on D-Day 1944. We also visit Pegasus Beach which the Paras freed.
The allied forces liberated surrounding French villages in the co-ordinated attack.

We find some great locations to park an RV in Normandy, France and visit the Aires in Dieppe Port which are useful when sailing back to the UK via Dieppe

We are a British couple who travel in our Swift Kontiki Motorhome. Gary retired after 39 years in the British Army. During this time we have travelled over 25,000 miles! We are travelling in an older second hand motorhome which we love.
