Sheep Farm Tour - New Handling System, Sheds And Compact Lambing, Farmer Interview.

In this video we go on tour to a sheep farmer in Killeigh, Co Offaly with Alan McDonald who runs a flock of 120 registered purebred ewes. Alan runs through his system including an interesting setup during mating to compact his lambing with 90% completed in 1 week.

Alan runs a flock of purebred Lleyn ewes and retains his ewe lambs on to hoggets for sale the following autumn. Ram lambs are finished on a hybrid forage crop of Redstart.

We have a look at his new sheep handling system which includes a Pratley scales, a new investment to help with performance recording.

Lleyn Sheep Open Day takes place on Saturday 15th of July at 12.30pm.
