In this video, we take you behind the scenes of the 2024 Tillers Hybrid Turf installation at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, showing you exactly how a new Premier League pitch is grown and installed.
In April 2024, Fineturf were awarded a three-year contract to renovate and repurpose the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The new 55mm pile hybrid turf was grown at Tillers Turf over 12 weeks, infilled with sports sand, and overseeded with a 100% ryegrass seed mixture. During this process, the existing hybrid turf was lifted and fully recycled — with fibres returned to the manufacturer and sand cleaned for reuse. This represents the world’s first 100% recyclable pitch system.
Ahead of installation in July 2024, the stadium surface was prepared with cultivation and laser levelling before the new pitch was laid and handed back to the Spurs grounds team for ongoing care.
This groundbreaking project highlights Tottenham Hotspur’s commitment to sustainability and sets new standards for environmentally friendly pitch technology in world football.
