Humans were far from alone when we came onto the scene. In fact, there were already at least six other human species walking the Earth. So, how did we all get on?
That’s one of several questions on palaeoanthropologist Ella Al-Shamahi’s mind after working across the BBC Studios series “Human” that explores 300,000 years of our evolution. From fighting giant prehistoric bears in caves to surviving to be the last Homo standing, we’ve been through the ringer, but why did these other – arguably, in some cases, stronger – human species die off while we lived on?
