Finnish is a Finnic language of the Uralic family, spoken by most people in Finland and ethnic Finns abroad. It is one of Finland's two official languages, along with Swedish. In Sweden, Finnish and Meänkieli (mutually intelligible with Finnish) are official minority languages. The Kven language, also mutually intelligible with Finnish, is spoken by a Finnish-descended minority in Norway's Troms and Finnmark counties.

Khanty is a Uralic language spoken in the Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo-Nenets Okrugs. As of 2010, there were about 7,500 speakers of Northern Khanty and 2,000 speakers of Eastern Khanty. Southern Khanty has been extinct since the early 20th century. The most recent census reported around 13,900 total Khanty speakers. The language has many dialects.
