ଏହି ସ୍ଥାନ ଐତିହାସିକ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରୁ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ । ଜୈନ ବିବରଣୀରୁ ଜାଣିବାକୁ ମିଳେ, ଏହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ମହାବୀର ଜୈନ ତାଙ୍କର ଧର୍ମପ୍ରଚାର କରିଥିଲେ । ସମ୍ରାଟ ଖାରବେଳଙ୍କ ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ହାତୀଗୁମ୍ଫା ଶିଳାଲେଖ ଏହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଅଛି, ଯାହା ପ୍ରାଚୀନ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ସମ୍ପର୍କରେ ଏକ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଐତିହାସିକ ଉପାଦାନ । ଏଠାରେ ଏବେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଜୈନ ସମ୍ପ୍ରଦାୟର ସାଧୁ ମାଁନଙ୍କୁ ଦେଖିବାକୁ ମିଳେ ।
This place is historically important. It is known from Jain records that Mahavir Jain preached his religion here. The famous elephant cave inscription of Emperor Kharavela is located here, which is an important historical element regarding ancient Odisha. Even today, the holy man of the Jain community can be seen here.
