There are two foundational kamae of the Takagi Yoshin Ryu Jutaijutsu. While they seem quite simple, please pay attention to the finer details of posture and body alignment.
In Tachiwaza (standing techniques), receiving from a natural standing position (Shizen-Tai) is the fundamental, but the details of this I will explain within the techniques. For Suwari-Gata (seated techniques), the fundamental is to sit with both feet raised up on their toes.
Shizen Tai 自然体
This is a natural standing position with the hands resting gently on the hips. This can also be done migi/ushiro mae
Za Gamae 坐構
Lower onto the left knee followed by the right, sitting in a kneeling position with while still remaining on the balls of the feet. Place both hands at the crook of the hips. Kee a straight back. When standing, come up onto the right foot first.
