OPPROBRIUM - 'BEYOND THE UNKNOWN' 30TH-ANNIVERSARY (1990 - 2020)

This is the song "Mortify" off our never before released BTU 1990 demo which is now part as bonus tracks of the High Roller's reissue of Beyond The Unknown. A little history behind this demo; Back in January / February of 1990, we recorded this demo so we could shop around for a new label to record our second album. Fortunately through some recommendations of a old friend of ours that worked on a underground fanzine in Tampa, FL, gave us the contact number of a new emerging underground label from Germany called Nuclear Blast Records that released mostly Punk / Hardcore bands at the time, but that were also looking for Death / Thrash Metal bands to be included in their roster at that time. After we contacted NBR, they signed us immediately since they were already fans of our debut album Serpent Temptation.

After signing us at that time, Markus Staiger asked if we had any rehearsal or demo tape for the new album (BTU), and gladly we had the BTU demo ready, recorded and mixed and we sent him a demo cassette copy via air mail (back in the days!) to Germany from Florida. This was the ONLY time that we sent this demo to anyone back then, so Markus Staiger (the owner of Nuclear Blast) was the only person that had a copy of the BTU 1990 demo. Then soon after we finally released our second studio album Beyond The Unknown in late 1990 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Many bands did not wanted to sign with Nuclear Blast at that time since every one was looking for other labels that had more name at that time, but we (OPPROBRIUM) after we spoke with Markus Staiger over the phone, we were very happy to have worked with him and to be one of the first few bands in our style of music to sign with them at that time and be part of Nuclear Blast Records history in the beginning of the label.

The CD (Slipcase) includes a never before released 8 bonus tracks from the band's BTU 1990 demo plus an extended booklet. The LP format will be available in 3 different colors; Black*, Blue* and White* (*425gsm), plus insert, album cover art poster, heavy cardboard cover. Mastered for vinyl, CD and Digital by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony (Germany).
