(4K) Βόλτα στο Kαρέλι Αιτωλοακαρνανίας - Riding to Kareli Aitoloakarnanias

(English follow) Σε απόσταση 60 περίπου χιλιομέτρων, διασχίζοντας μία διαδρομή διάρκειας περίπου μίας ώρας ανεβαίνοντας και κατεβαίνοντας τα βουνά στην υπέροχη Αιτωλοακαρνανία, λίγο πιο έξω απο το χωριό Πόρος, θα φτάσετε στο Καρέλι.

Το «καρέλι» είναι ένα ξύλινο κουτί που στηρίζεται με 4 καρούλια σε 2 χοντρά σύρματα, στερεωμένα σε σταθερές βάσεις εκατέρωθεν των οχθών του ποταμού. Το κουτί, μέσα στο οποίο μπαίνουν ένα ή δύο άτομα, κινείται με τη δύναμη των χεριών πάνω στα σύρματα από τη μία όχθη ως την άλλη και ήταν αρχικά το μοναδικό μέσο για διάβαση του ποταμού στο σημείο αυτό.

Δίπλα απο το καρέλι, υπάρχει λειτουργικό συρμάτινο γεφύρι.Κατασκευάστηκε πριν από πολλές δεκαετίες για να εξυπηρετεί τις μετακινήσεις των κατοίκων που έχουν κτήματα και ζωντανά και στις δύο όχθες του ποταμού. Θα πρέπει να σημειώσουμε ότι η κοντινότερη διαδρομή με όχημα από την μία όχθη στην άλλη μέσω τις κοντινότερης γέφυρας του Πόρου είναι 30 χιλιόμετρα.

Στον χώρο αυτόν υπάρχει δυνατότητα για καφέ και φαγητό στην ταβέρνα της οικογένειας Βαλαώρα, ενώ και στην απέναντι όχθη του ποταμού προς την πλευρά του Κάτω Κάμπου Στράνωμας, υπάρχει οργανωμένος χώρος αναψυχής.

Το καλοκαίρι στο σημείο αυτό έρχεται κόσμος για το μπάνιο του στις φυσικές παραλιες που εχει δημιουργήσει ο Εύηνος ποταμός.

At a distance of about 60 kilometers, crossing a route lasting about an hour going up and down the mountains in the wonderful Etoloakarnania, a few klm outside the village of Poros, you will reach Kareli.

The "kareli" is a wooden box supported by 4 spools on 2 thick wires, fixed to fixed bases on either side of the river banks. The box, into which one or two persons enter, is moved by the power of the hands on wires from one bank to the other, and was originally the only means of crossing the river at this point.

Next to the kareli, there is a functional wire bridge. It was built many decades ago to serve the movements of the residents who have estates and live on both banks of the river. We should note that the nearest route by vehicle from one bank to the other via the nearest bridge of Poros is 30 kilometers.

In this area there is the possibility for coffee and food in the tavern of the Valaora family, while on the opposite bank of the river towards the side of Kato Kampos Stranomas, there is an organized recreation area.

In the summer, people come to this spot to swim on the natural beaches created by the Evinos river.
