Live Tonight on Millennium Stage: Pressenda Chamber Players, the Washington Conservatory of Music’s Ensemble in Residence, is a chamber music ensemble composed of strings, piano, and distinguished guest artists. As Ensemble in Residence, the Pressenda Chamber Players perform concerts as part of the Washington Conservatory of Music’s Concert Series, present lectures, and provide coachings, chamber music play-ins, and workshops.
This fall, in the ensemble’s 10th anniversary season, the Pressenda Chamber Players proudly bring its artistry to the nation’s stage, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The ensemble’s namesake, Giovanni Pressenda (1777-1854), was a renowned Italian string instrument maker, who is often considered today as the finest of the modern Turin school. Two of his historic instruments are present in the ensemble, played by founder, artistic director, and cellist Tobias Werner and violinist Aaron Berofsky. The Pressenda Chamber Players performs works of all eras for duos, trios, quartets, quintets, sextets, and octets, presenting world-class musicians from throughout the United States.
