Desperation truly is the mother of innovation. Such is the story of Germany in WW2, once they lost the initiative and allies started hitting back, they became obsessed with weapons that would let them turn the tide of war. This desperation led to some of the most outlandish designs to be approved by the German government, most of which were terrible failures, but it was all in hopes of creating that one "Wunderwaffe" that would help them win. This is the story of two of those designs, designs that weren't a failure, but came too late. Still, the legacy one of these two left behind after the war was immense and, it quite literally, blasted off the age of space flight.
