Three buddies and I decided to take a musky fishing trip to one of the best musky lakes out there, Lake St. Clair. We drove 5 hours up to the Canadian side Thursday evening and fished Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for a total of 28 hours on the water. Friday and Saturday were calm, sunny, hot, and otherwise beautiful days but that seemed to deter the bite a bit. With no previous knowledge of the lake, we covered an incredible amount of water checking out shallow, deep and anything in between that had good weed structure with little luck. However, Sunday was overcast with a steady 20-30 mph wind. This forced us closer to the shore where the waves had less time to form but still managed to reach almost 3 ft at times. With a hit about every hour, Sunday lived up to the reputation of Lake St. Clair musky fishing. We will definitely be making another trip to the musky haven, and quite possibly will be making this an annual trip.
Crazy Eyes Stats: Friday - 0 hits | Saturday - 0 hits | Sunday - 4 hits, 2 musky (35" and 32") | MVL (Most Valuable Lure) during the trip.
