The historic origins of mumming in Ireland aren't exactly well known, but the tradition was an important part of Ireland's national heritage up until recent decades, when it has begun to dwindle somewhat.
The wren boys and straw boys were the most popular iterations of this practice, visiting upon weddings, wakes and households within the community around Christmas time.
Thanks to Edwina Guckian and everyone else who is involved in reviving this colourful tradition in Co. Leitrim.
