My wife, Theresa, was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease back in 2018. Theresa was 49 years old at the time of her diagnosis. In this video, I have a chat with Theresa on our back porch. Theresa is often spends a good deal of time looking down at the ground and picking up small items such as leaves, pebbles and feathers. She has also become obsessed with plucking carpet fibers from our rugs. If I'm in a work meeting for an hour or so, she will spend the entire time plucking carpet and bring me hand fulls of fibers. All this bending over is making her back sore and her nose runny. I always have tissues with me when we take walks because she stops so often to pickup stuff. She will get upset with me if I try to move her alone so we can finish our walk and get back home. I worry that one day she will refuse to finish our walk back home. Theresa will even try to pickup bird poop, thinking it is a white sea shell. I have resorted to keeping her in the backyard for our outdoor time. This video depicts some of that behavior as well as her talking to the pillow, thinking it is her "Baby" (one of our cats). I've talked about this behavior in other video but this will be the first time I show it on video. I'm sharing the real side of the disease here today - the decline that I have spoken of previously. Hospice was here today for the evaluation and it appears that she will likely be approved. I will find out for sure early next week.
Update - Theresa passed away from this disease on March 3rd, 2024 at the age of 55. This channel will remain up in remembrance of her and to educate others about Alzheimer's Disease.
Thank you all for your support.
Much Love,
Trey Pippen
