Peter Davey was born in 1967. He won a Choral Scholarship to the Prebendal school in 1976 and was admitted as a Chorister at Chichester the following January. During his time as a Chorister he also studied the bassoon and piano at the Royal Academy of Music, having gained a scholarship to the Saturday school. He became a regular soloist at services in the cathedral and in 1981 was appointed Head Chorister.
