Cleveland area weather forecast: Bursts of snow Wednesday with more bitter cold on the way

11 p.m. Greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio for Jan. 20, 2026:

Scattered snow will be around on Wednesday. It won't amount to much - maybe 1-2" max. Flakes could be around for the main drive times, so plan on needing some extra time. Temperatures top out a bit above freezing later on.

Isolated snow possible overnight into early Thursday. Cold air returns quickly. Falling from the upper 20s to low 20s on Thursday.

Another arctic front is on the way Friday with Weather Impact Alerts Friday and Saturday for more bitter cold. Temps will likely start in the upper 10s Friday morning before dropping throughout the day. We'll then spend much of our Friday evening through Saturday into Sunday with wind chills below 0°.

At the same time, a major winter storm system will be taking shape to our south, stretching from Texas all the way to the Carolinas. This storm system will have a large area of heavy snow on the north side, a large area of freezing rain in the middle and rain along the Gulf Coast. All this being said, there will be major impacts across much of the southern U.S. into the Tennessee and Ohio valleys. We'll need to keep a close eye on this storm system because it could correct north and bring accumulating snow into Ohio Sunday into Monday.
