South Korea stock market's New Year opening ceremony

(2 Jan 2019) Representatives from South Korea's government and the Korea Exchange on Wednesday opened the 2019 stock market with a ceremony in Seoul.
Electronic screens displaying South Korea's KOSPI stock index showed a 9.51 point higher value at 10 a.m local time (0100GMT), which was 0.47 percent higher than last year's close.
The KOSPI inched up in early trade, positively affected by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's new year's speech.
However, the stock index demonstrated a slight decline after 10am local (0100GMT).
