According to a Telegraph report, Iranian military planners may target the U.S.-U.K. base on Diego Garcia—a strategic outpost roughly 2,400 miles south of Iran—should Washington move closer to launching strikes over Tehran’s nuclear program or its arming of Houthi militants in Yemen. Iran’s ballistic arsenal, including Khorramshahr-2 and Kheibar missiles, is believed capable of striking targets nearly 1,800 miles away, though the regime could also employ unconventional means to extend reach. President Donald Trump has recently stepped up threats of “bombing” Iran if it refuses to cease nuclear activities and support for regional proxies. Meanwhile, Iran’s UN ambassador lodged an official complaint about the U.S. president’s “reckless” statements, pledging retaliation against any act of aggression. Analysts emphasize the risk of rapid escalation, pointing out that even untested or improvised delivery methods could pose a real threat to U.S. strategic interests. #shorts
