Heya! thanks for stopping by!

This projected started roughly around February 2024. (heck, it might even been just a bit before that cause I was studying the lyrics. Nevertheless I tried to kick into gear on Feb ’24). I took a long hiatus from this project due to life lmao but was also feeling burnt out? Losing steam? I knew I needed to take a break from this. After coming back with fresh eyes, I felt refreshed and ready to tackle this once more!

Huge thank you to a fellow peep who gave me notes on how to push my scenes even more! I loved the notes and I like this draft more than my first.

I learned a lot from this project and altho I can keep tinkering with this to the ends of time, I’m ready to move on and try making new boards! ✨

my lil thoughts for myself during the process of making Promises as I like to keep record hehe

While dissecting Promises lyrics, I had a really hard time trying to figure out how the characters were feeling during certain scenes. I felt very directionless. Taking a break from listening to this song over and over, I listen to “All I’ve Ever Known” cause it’s one of my other fav Hadestown songs hehe. But I realized after giving that a listen- that these two songs are a perfect example of how a character starts to how they’ve changed throughout the story. That entire exchange towards the end of the song flipped a switch in me. From there, I was able to rough out scenes and had a better idea abt the character’s acting and feelings. Solving story questions can be such a challenging task. But wow, sometimes the answers you find can be so unexpecting but rewarding.
